Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Today we lost possibly the greatest music icon the world has ever known.

My parents gave me my first vinyl record when I was 3 years old. It was Michael Jackson's "Thriller" produced by Quincy Jones, and to this day it remains the highest selling album in history. I still have it somewhere in my collection, which has grown to more than 2500 pieces of vinyl.

I just bought some current club reworks of "Thriller" and "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" last week and was remarking to someone how utterly timeless MJ and Quincy Jones' tunes are, even today.

I hope the best for his children and family, and will always remember who taught me that pop music could be transcendent. Rest (finally) in peace, man.
